Teaching
Statistics 421: Survey Sampling Techniques
(Most springs)
This course is taken by Statistics undergraduates and graduate students in other departments. We introduce basic sample designs and estimators appropriate for those designs, with an emphasis on thinking conceptually about the relationships among designs. The labs are based on a program that simulates survey data and sample selection to provide hands-on sampling and analysis experience.
Ecology and Evolutionary Biology 698: Seminar
(Fall 1998)
This is a seminar course that focuses on a particular discipline within the Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (EEB) program. During the Fall 1998 semester, the Statistics EEB faculty led the seminar. Part of the course was devoted to design, measurement, and estimation for sample surveys.
Statistics 401C: Statistical Methods for Research Workers in the Mathematical, Physical and Engineering Sciences
(Fall 1996)
This course is taken by graduate students wishing to learn about statistical methods for analyzing research data. We concentrate on regression methods for engineering and physics, including model selection and diagnostics. Weekly labs are used to gain experience in analyzing data with statistical packages. Students also complete a data analysis project related to their research area wherever possible.
