Alex King, director of the Ames Laboratory, will serve as chair of the committee. "We are looking for a nationally recognized research leader who will build on John Brighton's important accomplishments and help us take the research and economic development enterprises at Iowa State to the next level," said Elizabeth Hoffman, executive vice president and provost. Hoffman said plans are to have someone in place by the 2009 spring semester. Nominations can be sent to vsearch@iastate.edu. John Brighton retired as vice president for research and economic development at the conclusion of the spring semester. Ted Okiishi, professor emeritus in mechanical engineering and former associate dean for research and outreach in the College of Engineering, is serving as interim vice president.
