They were Steven Fales, a professor of agronomy and a member of the Science and Engineering Board of Iowa State's Bioeconomy Institute; Robert Wisner, a recently retired University Professor of agricultural economics; and Linda Pollak, a research geneticist for the U.S. Department of Agriculture and a collaborative associate professor of agronomy at Iowa State. They made presentations during the 174th annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Feb. 14-18 in Boston. The theme of this year's meeting is "Science and Technology from a Global Perspective." "The AAAS annual meeting has become the most important gathering of the year for the growing segment of scientists and engineers who seek to explore the intersections between disciplines and witness the broad influence of science and technology on society," David Baltimore, the president of AAAS, wrote in an invitation to the annual meeting.
