NewsPresidential hopefuls to speak at bioeconomy outlook conferencePresidential hopefuls John Edwards (D-NC), John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) will participate in a forum at Iowa State's Biobased Industry Outlook Conference in Ames on Monday evening, Nov. 5. Reimans' holiday gift will keep butterfly wing open until Dec. 31A gift from Roy and Bobbi Reiman will keep the Reiman Gardens' Christina Reiman Butterfly Wing open until Dec. 31, and allow the Gardens to install its annual holiday show. The Gardens recently announced the butterfly wing would be closed from Nov. 1 to April 1, 2008. Reiman Gardens will be open daily, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through Dec. 31.

Christopher Hitchens to speak Oct. 31Author, commentator and National Book Award nominee Christopher Hitchens will speak at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, in the Memorial Union Sun Room. A columnist for Vanity Fair, The Nation and Slate, and a former foreign correspondent, Hitchens is the author of several books. His lecture is part of the World Affairs Series. New dairy farmISU agriculture and life sciences dean Wendy Wintersteen was among speakers at the recent opening of the new dairy farm, a complex of high-tech buildings on 27 acres south of the campus. The farm begins operations in November.
