ISU study finds wives have greater power in marriage problem-solving behavior

A team of Iowa State researchers conducted a study of 72 married couples and found that wives, on average, exhibit greater situational power than their husbands during problem-solving discussions, regardless of who raised the topic.

Cyclone women's basketball attendance ranks 7th nationally

Iowa State women's basketball ranked seventh nationally in NCAA Division I attendance, according to recently released NCAA figures. The Cyclones averaged 8,906 fans per game to rank in the top 10 for the eighth straight season.

Life skills volunteer approved, with guidelines

ISU mosquito researcher in Science

ISU entomologist Lyric Bartholomay is part of the international team that identified 350 genes in the immune system of a tropical disease-transmitting mosquito and looked at their evolution as compared to two other species. Their paper was published in the June 21 edition of the journal Science.

Allison Rosenberg, a vice chancellor at University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, has been named special assistant to the president for federal relations at Iowa State University, effective Sept. 4.

Sustainable development of the ag bioeconomy

Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture's Jeri Neal is a co-author of a policy paper in the June 15 edition of Science. The paper calls for ag policies that focus more on developing and rewarding sustainable, multifunctional landscapes and less on merely maximizing crop yield.

As part of its 150th birthday celebration, Iowa State, with the help of lots volunteers, is giving a gift to every county in the state. Recently, Woodbury County volunteers painted a historic house at the fairgrounds in Moville.

George Kraus to direct Iowa State's Institute for Physical Research and Technology

George Krause, a university professor of chemistry, will be the new director of Iowa State's Institute for Physical Research and Technology. The institute is a network of scientific centers devoted to developing new technologies.
