He is supposed to start running for Iowa State as a freshman this fall. Ihmels said the 19-year-old hasn't been heard from since he left his home in late June to make his way to Ethiopia and then on to Kenya to process his student visa in Nairobi. News release. U.S. News rankings: ISU among top 25 percent of public national universities Iowa State University is among the top one-fourth of all public national universities in U.S. News & World Report's 2008 "America's Best Colleges" annual rankings. Geoffroy part of Spellings' higher ed delegation to Latin America ISU president Gregory Geoffroy will join U.S. Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings and seven other college and university presidents on a visit to Latin America to tout the importance of higher education partnerships and exchanges among nations.
