Updates in the search for Abel Bolanos
AMES, Iowa -- Iowa State University Police have updated the description for missing student Abel Bolanos. The initial alert indicated he was last seen wearing a white T-shirt; now police say the shirt could be white or cream-colored with a logo on the front left. It may be a button-down shirt. Bolanos also is believed to be wearing black-rimmed, rectangular prescription eyeglasses.
ISU Police Commander Gene Deisinger says the person who found Bolanos' debit and credit cards and turned them in at a local bank yesterday has come forward. Police have received information about where those cards were found and are following up on those leads.
The Central Iowa Dive Team is on central campus searching Lake LaVerne and other bodies of water in the Ames area. There is nothing to indicate that waterways are involved, but police simply want to be proactive and be able to rule them out in the search.
"They haven't been checked and they need to be checked," Deisinger said.
