Preliminary autopsy results revealed; investigation continues
Investigation continues regarding the death of Abel M. Bolanos, an Iowa State University student whose body was found on Tuesday afternoon following an extensive search process.
An autopsy was conducted this morning by Dr. Dennis Klein, Assistant State Medical Examiner. Preliminary results from the autopsy indicated that Bolanos died as a result of accidental drowning. Final determination of the cause and manner of death is pending the results of medical tests. Those tests may take several weeks to complete.
Investigators have continued to interview potential witnesses and have found no indications of foul play. While the case remains under investigation, Bolanos' death appears to have been accidental.
