U.S. News graduate rankings place ISU engineering, statistics and chemistry programs among top 25 public universities

AMES, Iowa -- Iowa State's College of Engineering is one of the top 25 public engineering colleges in the country, according to the latest graduate school rankings released March 31 by U.S. News & World Report magazine.

The magazine also ranked Iowa State's graduate programs in statistics and analytical chemistry among the country's top 10 public universities. And six of Iowa State's engineering programs ranked among the top 25 public universities.

Among the nearly 200 public and private colleges and universities that grant doctoral degrees in engineering, Iowa State ranks 42nd, which places it in the top 21 percent in the nation.

Iowa State's engineering college ranked 43rd in last year's ranking.

"We are pleased that the quality of ISU's engineering programs continues to be recognized by our peers, as reported in the U.S. News & World Report rankings," said Mark Kushner, the dean of Iowa State's College of Engineering. "At the same time, we remain highly focused on interdisciplinary activities to improve our education programs and to innovate solutions to society's most critical problems through our world-class research. I am confident that those efforts will continue to elevate the national and international recognition of the college and university."

Iowa State's graduate program in statistics ranks among the top 10 public universities and is ranked 12th among all public and private universities.

Iowa State is among the top 25 public university doctoral programs in chemistry and 38th among all universities. Iowa State's doctoral program in analytical chemistry is ranked ninth overall.

Other Iowa State programs ranked among the top 25 public universities are aerospace engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, industrial and manufacturing systems engineering and materials science and engineering.
