Student shows her research in the Capitol

Research in the Capitol

Andrea LeClere, a senior in genetics from Cedar Rapids, explains her turtle gene research to Jami Larson of the Ames Economic Development Commission during "Research in the Capitol" Feb. 28 in the state capitol rotunda. The event was sponsored by the Honors Departments of Iowa State, the University of Iowa and the University of Northern Iowa.

Ten undergraduates from each school displayed their research and answered questions. Michael Gartner, president of the Board of Regents, State of Iowa, and John Brighton, vice provost for research and economic development at Iowa State spoke, along with representatives from the other two schools. The event was designed to highlight to Iowa legislators the research done by undergraduate students at Iowa's regent Universities.
