Tornadoes on TV

National Geographic crew

A crew from the National Geographic Channel films Iowa State's Tornado/Microburst Simulator in Howe Hall last October. The crew's show will focus on a 1994 storm outbreak that created 18 tornadoes in four states, including the March 27 tornado near Piedmont, Ala., that hit the Goshen United Methodist Church and killed 20 people.

Tornadoes on TV

Iowa State University tornadoes will be blowing across America's television screens. The National Geographic Channel will air "Anatomy of a Tornado" at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. Thursday, June 8. The show will be rebroadcast at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 15. The show features Iowa State's Tornado/Microburst Simulator created by Partha Sarkar, an Iowa State professor of aerospace engineering; Fred Haan, an Iowa State assistant professor of aerospace engineering; and Bill Gallus, an Iowa State professor of geological and atmospheric sciences.
