Youth program hunting easier with new searchable Iowa State Web site
AMES, Iowa -- Anyone looking for Iowa State University-sponsored youth programs will be able to find them much more easily this year with the launch of a new, searchable Web site.
Iowa State Programs for Youth, or ISPY, is a collaboration of the admissions and provost offices. They felt there needed to be better access to the many youth programs Iowa State sponsors.
The site, www.ispy.iastate.edu, allows searchers to sort programs by age (pre-school through senior in high school), areas of interest and date. Prior to the launch of this site, anyone wanting information about youth programs needed to contact each department individually.
"It's really a way to centralize information for students, families, teachers, counselors and everyone else who is interested about finding programs for youth," said Maura Flaschner, assistant director for admissions.
"We have such diverse programs that appeal to all ages of kids with all types of interests and abilities," said Flaschner. "We just want as many people as possible to know about them and take advantage of them."
Program topics range from 4-H to athletics, to science, to leadership, to arts and many others.
"Young people from around the state and country come to our programs," said Flaschner. "This is a better way to get information to them."
