Roxanne Conlin to address women's leadership issues at Iowa State lecture

AMES, Iowa - Roxanne Conlin, the first woman to run for governor of Iowa and one of the most influential women lawyers in America, will speak in the Sun Room, Memorial Union, at 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29.

Conlin, who is ranked as one of the country's 100 most influential lawyers and is ranked as one of the top 10 litigators in America by the National Law Journal, started her legal career when she graduated with honors from Drake Law School at the age of 21. She has been an Assistant Attorney General for Iowa, and was one of the first two women to be a U.S. Attorney. She is also a member of the Iowa Women's Hall of Fame.

The lecture is part of Iowa State's Advancing Women's Leadership series. The series closes on April 17, 2006, with the second Iowa Women's Leadership Summit. Series lectures and events are planned and carried out in collaboration with many student organizations, academic departments, administrative offices, and other organizations on and off campus.

The Women's Leadership Consortium brings together leaders of women's programs and services on the Iowa State University campus. The consortium facilitates coordination of programs and initiatives, serves as a resource to administration, and encourages the advancement of women into leadership positions.
