Daly named interim director of Iowa State's Center for Excellence in the Arts and Humanities
AMES, Iowa -- Brenda Daly, University Professor of English, has been appointed interim director of Iowa State University's Center for Excellence in the Arts and Humanities, effective Aug. 15.
Daly's research and teaching interests are in literary theory, American women's narratives, feminist theory, autobiographical criticism and pedagogy. In 2001, Daly was named the Louis Thompson Distinguished Undergraduate Teacher at Iowa State, and in 2003 she received a research excellence award from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
Daly also is affiliated with the Women's Studies Program in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. She is editor of the NWSA Journal, an official publication of the National Women's Studies Association.
Daly replaces Sheryl St. Germain, the center's founding director. The Office of the Vice Provost for Research will initiate an internal search for a new director in the fall.
The Center for Excellence in the Arts and Humanities promotes the research and creative activity of Iowa State University arts and humanities faculty. It receives support from three colleges as well as from the offices of the vice provost for research, the provost and the president. The center is affiliated with faculty in nine academic departments and various interdisciplinary programs.
