Douglas G. MacCrea has been named professor and chair of naval science at Iowa State University. A 1977 graduate of Iowa State, MacCrea has served on the USS Semmes, the USS Robert G. Bradley, the USS Hawes and as executive officer on the USS Halyburton. He was the commanding officer on the USS John L. Hall from November 1996 to July 1998. MacCrea has also served several shore assignments. MacCrea has a master's degree from Troy State University, Alabama, and is a graduate of the Air Command and Staff College, Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama. Iowa State's naval science department and Navy ROTC program provides leadership development that prepares members for service as officers in the U.S. Navy. There are 50 midshipmen enrolled in the program. -30- |
