ISU Dairy Science Club will host Alison Ciancio Memorial Scholarship race/walk Sept. 25

AMES, Iowa -- The Iowa State University Dairy Science Club will host "Hoofin' it for Alison 2004," a six-kilometer race/walk and pancake breakfast on Sept. 25.

The race will start at 9:30 a.m. and the walk at 9:45 a.m. Pancakes will be served from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will be at the ISU Cross Country Course, located west of the Towers residence halls on Hayward Avenue and Mortensen Road in Ames.

All proceeds from the race will go to the Alison Ciancio Memorial Foundation for scholarships to benefit students in the ISU Dairy Science Club who demonstrate strong commitment to helping others through involvement in community outreach activities.

Ciancio was an ISU sophomore majoring in animal science when she was killed in a car accident near her home in Pennsylvania. Ciancio was an active member of the Dairy Science Club and the Seeing Eye Foundation.

Cash prizes will be awarded to race/walk participants placing first and second in each age division and to the team (five or more people) with the fastest cumulative time for each division: female, male and co-ed.

Registration for the race is $20 for adults and $10 for children age 16 and younger. The fee includes a commemorative T-shirt and breakfast.
