IOWA STATE STUDENTS WILL COMPETE IN NATIONAL FOOD SCIENCE COLLEGE BOWL
AMES, Iowa -- A team of students from Iowa State University's Food Science Club has qualified to compete in the Institute of Food Technologists Student Association (IFTSA) national Food Science College Bowl competition, July 14, in Chicago.
Iowa State will compete against five other university teams for the national championship.
The Iowa State team became eligible after winning the IFTSA North Central regional competition at Kansas State University, Manhattan, on April 5.
The Food Science College Bowl tests student knowledge in food science and technology, history of foods and food processing, food law and food-related trivia.
This is the second Iowa State team to compete in the national Food Science College Bowl. In 2001, the Iowa State students placed third.
IFTSA and General Mills Inc. sponsor the competition. It is held during the annual meeting of the Institute of Food Technologists.
