ISU ARCHITECTURE CHAIR TAPPED TO SERVE AS NATIONAL REVIEWER FOR GOVERNMENT BUILDINGS
AMES, Iowa -- Calvin Lewis, chair of the architecture department at Iowa State University, has been named a member of the National Registry of Peer Professionals for the United States General Service Administration's Design Excellence Program.
The program includes approximately 140 professionals who are selected to serve in the architect selection and design review processes for government buildings. The collaborative process has had a major impact on the quality of civic architecture and public space throughout the United States.
Lewis, who was named department chair in 2000, is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). He has received 15 national awards for design excellence, including three National AIA Honor Awards. He is a principal in the Des Moines firm, Herbert Lewis Kruse Blunck Architecture, which was honored with the National AIA Firm Award in 2001.
