POIST NAMED INTERIM CHAIR OF IOWA STATE DEPARTMENT OF LOGISTICS, OPERATIONS AND MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS
AMES, Iowa -- Richard Poist Jr., professor of transportation and logistics, has been named the interim chair of the department of logistics, operations, and management information systems at Iowa State University's College of Business.
An Iowa State faculty member since 1991, Poist succeeds Anthony Hendrickson, associate professor of management information systems, who was named associate dean for academic programs for the college Aug. 1.
Before coming to Iowa State, Poist was a faculty member and administrator in the College of Business and Management at the University of Maryland, College Park. His research interests include logistics systems design, supply chain management, shipper-carrier relations, third-party logistics and the educational preparation of executives.
Poist received a B.S. (1965) from The Pennsylvania State University, University Park, an MBA (1967) from the University of Maryland, and Ph.D. (1972) from Pennsylvania State University.
Established in 1984, the College of Business is the third largest college at Iowa State with a fall 2001 enrollment of more than 4,000 students. The college is expected to move into its new home, the Gerdin Business Building, in fall 2003. The building project was launched with a $10 million gift from Russ and Ann Gerdin of Coralville.
