THOMPSON NAMED TO IOWA ACADEMY OF EDUCATION

AMES, Iowa -- An Iowa State University professor of curriculum and instruction in the College of Education has been named to the Iowa Academy of Education. The academy is a part of the FINE (First In the Nation in Education) Foundation, Des Moines.

Ann Thompson, the founding director of Iowa State's Center for Technology in Learning and Teaching, was one of three educators recently named to the organization.

Thompson researches the use of technology to improve student learning. Her work has received funding from the National Science Foundation, the United States Department of Energy, and the United States Department of Education. She has served as the president of the Society for Information Technology in Teacher Education and is the editor for the "Journal of Computing in Teacher Education."

The Iowa Academy of Education is an educational, non-partisan resource group that provides information, identifies potential needs or trends, and highlights cutting-edge research for legislators, school administrators and school districts.
