LADD NAMED CHAIR OF IOWA STATE NAVAL SCIENCE DEPARTMENT
AMES, Iowa -- Col. Paul L. Ladd has been named professor of naval science and chair of the department of naval science at Iowa State University.
A graduate of the University of Northern Iowa, Ladd has been an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps since 1977. Prior to his Iowa State assignment, Ladd was Fleet Marine Officer for the 2nd U.S. Fleet in Norfolk, Vir.
Ladd earned an M.S. in national security and strategic studies from the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, R.I., and an M.B.A. from the Florida Institute of Technology. He has received numerous commendations for his military service, including the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal and the Navy Achievement Medal.
Iowa State's department of naval science and Navy ROTC unit provides a program of leadership development that prepares college students for service as officers in the U.S. Navy. There are approximately 50 midshipmen currently enrolled in the program at Iowa State.
