AMES, Iowa -- Students, faculty, staff and others will have the opportunity to express opinions and ask questions about Iowa State University's proposed Student Conduct Code at two open forums.

The open forums will be Thursday, March 23, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Oak Room of the Memorial Union, and Tuesday, March 28, from 7 to 8 p.m. in the South Ballroom of the Memorial Union. Kathy MacKay, dean of students, and Paul Tanaka and Keith Bystrom, from University Legal Services, will be available at the open forums.

The university recently announced a proposed revision to the Student Conduct Code. Two years in the making, the conduct code originally was reviewed by a committee of students, faculty and staff. The committee recommended changes to the code, and university legal services staff and other campus staff who deal with student discipline followed up with additional revisions.

Presentations about the proposed revision have been made to several campus student groups already.

The proposed Student Conduct Code is available on the Web at www.iastate.edu/~deanstdt_info/dishandbook.
