ISU'S GREENLEE SCHOOL TO HOST 'WASHINGTON WEEK IN REVIEW';
PROGRAM TO FEATURE MODERATOR GWEN IFILL AND JOURNALISTS

AMES, Iowa In conjunction with the Iowa caucuses, PBS's "Washington Week In Review" will tape its Friday, Jan. 21, program at Iowa State University.
The event, sponsored by the Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication at ISU, is free and open to the public. "Washington Week In Review" is moderated by Gwen Ifill, senior correspondent for "The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer," and former political reporter for "The New York Times" and "NBC News." The program features a group of journalists participating in a roundtable discussion of major news events. The panelists at ISU will be David Broder, national political reporter for "The Washington Post" and syndicated columnist; Gloria Borger, contributing editor and political columnist for "U.S. News and World Report" and CBS news analyst; and Elizabeth Arnold, correspondent for National Public Radio's (NPR) Washington Bureau.
The taping will begin at 2 p.m. in Stephens Auditorium. Anyone planning to attend should be at Stephens by 1:30 p.m. The taping of the 30-minute program will include panel discussion and a question and answer period. The question and answer period will continue after the taping of the program. A portion of the question and answer period will be live streamed over the "Washington Week In Review" web site at www.pbs.org/weta/wwir.
"Washington Week in Review" is produced by WETA, Washington, D.C., the third-largest producing station in the public television system and the flagship public broadcaster in the nation's capital. Funding for "Washington Week in Review" is provided by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, PBS and public television viewers. Corporate funding is provided by SBC Communications and AARP.
The award-winning "Washington Week In Review" debuted in 1967 and is the longest-running public affairs program on PBS. "Washington Week In Review" is carried by 90 percent of the 306 PBS stations around the country and reaches 97 percent of U.S. television households. The program is broadcast at 7 p.m. on Fridays and 11 a.m. on Sundays on Iowa Public Television.
Iowa State's Greenlee School is the largest and most comprehensive journalism program in Iowa. The school currently has 800 undergraduate students and 35 graduate students. Courses of study include print journalism, electronic media, advertising and public relations and organizational communication.
