AMES, Iowa -- Gurpur Prabhu, an Iowa State associate professor of computer science, has donated $1,500 in proceeds from his recent book to the Charles Wright Memorial Scholarship fund. Prabhu is donating proceeds from the book "Anita's Legacy," a philosophical novel.

"Sales of Anita's Legacy have done phenomenally well in Ames," Prabhu said. "All proceeds from the sale of the book in Ames go to the Wright scholarship."

Prabhu was a colleague of Charles Wright, who died March 21 in an automobile accident. Wright was a University Professor in electrical and computer engineering. A scholarship was set up through Iowa State's Program for Women in Science and Engineering. PWSE tries to encourage young women to consider careers in science and engineering and provides several mentoring and support opportunities to women in these areas of study.

"The Wright Scholarship is designated for sophomore or junior women majoring in mathematics, physical or computer sciences, or engineering," said Mary Ann Evans, PWSE director. "We are pleased to have the opportunity to manage this scholarship in Charlie's memory. He was a great friend to us."

"Anita's Legacy" is available at Waldenbooks, Campus Bookstore and Hastings Books.
