Three finalists for ISU research VP post to visit campus

AMES, Iowa -- Three finalists in the search for Iowa State University's next vice president for research and economic development will visit campus in the next week.

They are:

  • Jerry Malayer, associate dean for research and graduate education, Center for Veterinary Health Sciences, Oklahoma State University, Stillwater. Malayer will visit campus Oct. 29 through 31; an open forum will be conducted from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30 in 1115 Pearson Hall.
  • Sharron Quisenberry, dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg. Quisenberry will visit ISU Nov. 2 through 4; an open forum will be conducted from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 3, in the Alliant Energy-Lee Liu Auditorium, Howe Hall.
  • Graham Plastow, director, bovine genomics program, University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Plastow will visit ISU Nov. 5 through 7; his open forum is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 6, 2 to 3:30 p.m., in the Memorial Union Cardinal Room.

Alex King, director of the U.S. Department of Energy's Ames Laboratory, is chair of the search committee charged with finding the next vice president. The successful candidate will succeed John Brighton, who retired in May. Ted Okiishi, emeritus professor in mechanical engineering, is serving as interim vice president.
