AMES, Iowa -- Frankie Santos Laanan, an assistant professor of educational leadership and policy studies in Iowa State University's College of Education, will be part of teleconferencing series tomorrow on how colleges and universities can assist students in the transfer process between institutions.

The teleconference, "Facilitating Transfer Student Success: Creating Effective Partnerships," is being downlinked from Noon to 2 p.m. in Room 1230 of the Communications Building. Panelists will evaluate existing transfer programs and discuss strategies for assisting students in overcoming transfer shock.

He came to Iowa State in 2003 after serving as senior research scientist and associate director of the Bill J. Priest Center for Community College Education and an assistant professor of higher education at the University of North Texas, Denton.

The teleconference is produced by the National Resource Center for the First-Year Experience and Students in Transition. Iowa State's Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) and the department of admissions are co-sponsors of the conference.
