PowerMac 7300/180

Okay, it's not a classic, but it was feeling rather left out, and as this machine does all of my work, it really deserves a mention. My PowerMac7300/180 is my all time favorite investment. It was my first workhorse machine, and it still is quite fast, even compared to other 604e machines with higher MHz designations. The 7300/180 was not around for very long--- the G3 came out in September (or August) of 1997, just four months after I bought my 7300. It has 144MB of RAM at the moment. I have another 64MB DIMM to put in it, but it needs a twin DIMM due to the problems I had with getting DIMMs from two different companies to work together nicely. I am an Infini-D rendering junkie, so going without my RAM last summer (1998) was not a good experience. I'm glad to have this machine working wonderfully again (no crashes since I installed my new RAM).

Update - As of October 2001, this machine has been relegated to web surfing, printing and scanning nearly exclusively. I added a second 2GB drive, and some spare DIMMs to bring it up to 160MB of RAM (it would have been more but it has 2 blown RAM slots). This is still a fun machine to pley with.
