Academics: What You're Here For

Midshipmen studying in our outstanding computer lab

The main goal of NROTC is to produce excellent, well-rounded students with batchelor's degrees.

  • Unlike ROTC programs in other military branches, you are completely free to choose whatever major you like.  We currently have midshipmen in such diverse areas of study as chemical engineering, accounting, biology and political science.

  • Midshipmen must maintain a 2.5 GPA to remain in good standing.  The Cyclone Company's academic policy is designed to create an environment where you can succeed.  Some helpful features include tutoring programs, quiet study rooms, and one of the best computer labs on campus.

  • In addition to regular classes, all midshipmen take a three-credit Naval Science course each semester.  These classes are taught by Naval officers assigned to our unit and cover topics like celestial navigation, naval ship systems and leadership.
