Project Description: Designed over 2003-2004 and constructed in 2004-2006, this house is entrenched within wilderness of rural Karuizawa, Japan. Hirotaka Kidosaka, head architect of the project, gave the house a minimalist and naturalistic feel be using a simple construction pallet and positioning the house within a hill in this rustic Japanese environment. As a result of this, the house is engulfed by the natural surroundings instead of creating a striking mark on the landscape.
