ProvidingVisions
A very important step in meaningful technology use is to develop a vision
of how to use technology to achieve important educational goals.
In one-on-one mentoring programs, visions in successful
technology integration are provided through collaborative efforts among
participants. We find that the faculty mentees move from the initial stage
of becoming computer literate(e.g., how to use certain software application
) to authentic and meaningful technology integration (a deeper level of
understanding of how the software application can be utilized to meet
curriculum goals).
In the mentoring program, technology skills are acquired in the context
of the faculty mentee's content expertise, and a vision is then developed
through teamwork and collaboration with the student mentor.
