CI 610 Technology in Teacher Education
| The College of Education at Iowa State University
has launched a mentoring program and part of it has contributed
to the creation of a graduate course entitled " Technology
in Teacher Education". It is a graduate course designed for
graduate students in Instructional Technology. |
|
| Students registered in the course are expected to work with faculty
members to help them better acquire the necessary skills to effectively
integrate technology into course design. The faculty members are
volunteer participants with technology backgrounds ranging from
beginners to advanced users. Most of the time, more than one faculty
member with similar technology backgrounds and needs are assigned
to one graduate student with a particular specialization. The faculty
member works with a mentor on technology applications related to
the faculty member's teaching interest. |
| The seminar course includes readings and discussions on issues
in technology in teacher education and a field component. For the
field component, the students are asked to mentor a teacher education
faculty member for 1 hour each week during the semester. In the
seminar class, discussion centers on both current readings and the
mentoring experiences of each of the students. |
