*BYLAWS FOR MASTER'S OF PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION CLUB at IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY

Bylaw I. Name
The name of this organization shall be the Master's of Public Administration Club, hereinafter referred to as "MPA Club," "the Club."

Bylaw II. Objects
The object of the Club was formed in order to meet the social and professional needs of the school's MPA graduate students. Activities include seminars, guest speakers, public service projects, social events and more.

Bylaw III. Headquarters
The headquarters of the Club shall be the Political Science Department, Public Policy and Administration Program, Iowa State University Campus, Ames, Iowa.

Bylaw IV. Members and Affiliates
Sec. 1. The rolls of the Club shall include those MEMBERS those persons currently enrolled MPA students who have paid the full membership fee, ASSOCIATE MEMBERS those students who are currently enrolled in the MPA program, but have not paid the enrollment fee, and AFFILIATE MEMBERS those persons wishing to participate in MPA Club activities for socializing, networking, or career advancement opportunities.

Bylaw V. Organization
Sec. 1. The officers of the Club shall be a President, Vice-president, Secretary and Treasurer. The offices of Secretary and of Treasurer may be held by the same person.
Sec. 2. The Club shall have a faculty advisor from the Public Policy and Administration Program faculty or staff.
Sec. 3. The Executive Committee shall consist of the officers of the Club.
Sec. 4. All officers shall serve a one-academic-year term with a maximum of two terms elected by MEMBERS and ASSOCIATE MEMBERS.

Bylaw VI. Manner of Election and Terms of Office
Sec. 1. Elected officers of the Section shall serve for a term of one academic year beginning on August 15 or until their successors are elected.
Sec. 2. In the event of a vacancy in the office of President, the Vice President shall assume the added duties of the President for the unexpired term. All other vacancies shall be filled by the Executive Committee by interim appointment for the period up to the next annual election, at which time the Club shall choose a member to fill out the unexpired term, if any. In the event the office of Vice President is filled by such interim appointment, the Club shall elect both a President and Vice President at its annual election.
Sec. 3. Prior to July 1 of each year, the President shall appoint a Nominating Committee of not less than three members to furnish nominees for all elective offices and positions in which vacancies will occur during the ensuing year.
Sec. 5. The report of the Nominating Committee shall be made to a meeting of the Club and nominations for any office may be made by any member from the floor. The Secretary shall, not later than ten days thereafter, send all members of the Club the report of the Nominating Committee.
Sec. 6. Elections will be held each August at the Orientation potluck or through an email to every MPA student. MEMBERS and ASSOCIATE MEMBERS will vote with a raise of hand if the election is held at the potluck. A count of emails will be used for an e-election.  An appointed member
of the nominating committee shall receive all votes in e-elections and will count the tally.  Simple majority will win. In case of a tie vote for any elective office, the Executive Committee shall decide between the tie candidates by vote, and shall further proceed to fill any vacancies that may exist due to the death, resignation, refusal or inability to serve of any of the officers or elected candidates.

Bylaw VII. Duties of Officers
Sec. 1. The duties of the officers shall be those customarily performed by such officers, together with those responsibilities prescribed by the Constitution and Bylaws of the Club and by these bylaws and such other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Executive Committee.
Sec. 2. The President of the Club shall serve as Chair of the Executive Committee and shall appoint all committees authorized in these bylaws or by the Executive Committee.
