Rubrics are very helpful and easy to create.

Here is a brief procedure to creating rubrics:

• Decide on a particular assignment which would require subjective grading
• Determine how many criteria/what needs to be graded and place them as the row headers
• Decide how many points to give under each criteria, this typically goes from 4-5. The points form the column headers
• In each cell, write characteristics of each level. Aviod adjectives like "good"; rather try to use descriptions that are specific such as "formulas not written" for a math assignment.
• Put under the characteristics the possible consequences such as "Reader cannot follow argument" as a result of missing formulas.
