Being a Cyclone!
When I was five years old I wrote in my diary “I love gym class
because I like to RUN.” I should have known then that I was born to be a
runner. I have always loved running, and once I got into high school I found
that I was pretty good at it. And now here I am, living my childhood dream of
running for one the best division 1 teams in the nation!
I run cross country and track for ISU. Cross country is a 6k
race which is about 4 miles. Seven people for each team run, and the top 5 are
counted for the team score. My PR is 21:08 which I ran at regionals
in the fall. Our team qualified for nationals where we placed 8th.
The first top ten finish in many years! Nationals was very scary to me as a
freshman because I had never raced in that big of a race before. But I am
really excited for the coming season where a top three finish at nationals
looks very promising for our team!
In track I am a distance runner, but I
specialize in the shorter distance races such as the 1500 and the 3,000. Someday
I might try steeplechase, and maybe a 5,000 meter race
as well. I am currently redshirting this season which means I am not going to
compete as a Cyclone in order to save my eligibility for the next four years
when I will be stronger and faster. My personal records are:
800-2:14 (split)
1500- 4:31
Mile- 4:58
3,000- 9:47
Here are some pics
of my team and me!
