1997 -- Dorthy de Rooij

Dorthy de Rooij is a professor of organ at the National High Conservatory of Music in Maastricht, The Netherlands. She is the titular organist at the Augustinian Church in Eindhoven. Her comprehensive artistic activities lead her to all countries in Europe and the USA. She is also a well-known recitalist through radio recordings and C.D.'s. She was a pupil of Albert de Klerk in Amsterdam, where she obtained the soloist certificate "summa cum laude." She studied with Maurice Durufle in Paris, with Luigi Tagliavini in Bologna and with Prof. Kastner in Lisbon. In 1971, she received the"Prize for Young Artists" of the city of Eindhoven, and in 1972 she was awarded the "Prix d'Excellence" in St Bavo, Haarlem, the highest degree in music . Her current artistic activities often include solo engagements at international festivals and presenting masterclasses and workshops around the world.
