Basically Baroque |
Basically Baroque is the duo of Kevin Schilling and Lynn Zeigler, both members of the music faculty at Iowa State University. The duo specializes in music of the baroque period performed on historical instruments, and is the only group residing in Iowa performing with a baroque oboe. While appealing to listeners with a special interest in this type of music, Basically Baroque makes its programs enjoyable for everyone, not only with the variety of their instruments, (oboe, baroque oboe, bassoon, English horn, harpsichord and organ), but also with a variety of music ranging from renaissance to contemporary.
Basically Baroque has performed throughout the state of Iowa from Sioux City to Dubuque. In addition to presenting formal concerts, they perform in schools and give clinics and workshops. Their 1988-89 season included concerts and workshops in the following cities: Audubon, Webster City, Des Moines (Art Center), Perry and Estherville. Basically Baroque is on the touring roster of the Iowa Arts Council.
