Month #4

November 20, 2003

Good news!  My ortho filed down my left top central incisor to line up with the right.  He didn't file it down all the way, but at least it's not all snaggle-toothy like it was before.  However, other than that my third adjustment was rather uneventful.  I enjoyed my burgundy powerchain so much that I was disappointed to give it up, but there will be other adjustments.  This time I went with metallic green for the upcoming holiday season.  Now I'll have to wear bright red lipstick and the look will be complete! (Eeek!)

Overall, I can't believe that four months have gone by so quickly!  My fears about having canker sores all the time never came true.  Sure, I've had some real doozies, but I don't have many because of my braces.  My cheeks and lips get irritated from time to time, but that's to be expected.

I eat just about anything I want (within reason, of course) and I love it!  I do stay away from hard candy and popcorn, but I can handle pretty much anything else.  I think I'm so lucky that I don't have bands on my molars.  It helps that I can chew tougher things with my back molars without worrying about damaging the brackets.

Getting braces has been one of the best decisions I've ever made.  I look back at pictures from May 2003 and I can't believe how icky my teeth look compared to now.  I love the way my teeth look now, and I can't wait to see them when the braces come off!

Below: A couple of days past 4 months.  Time is going quickly!  The gap is almost closed.
