Entering my sixth week with braces. I can't
believe it's been six weeks! I go to my first adjustment on
September 8. Until then, I'm continuing to update these first few
weeks of my treatment.
Below: Six weeks into my
treatment. Things are looking great! The gap is really
closing on its own.

Going to my first adjustment.
I went to my first adjustment on Monday, September 8, 2003. I was so excited to go that I celebrated
by drinking black tea beforehand! It was time to change bands!! The adjustment was rather painful because some of my lowers decided to be
loose that day. All that tugging to take off/put on bands was rough. My ortho tied my lower central incisor and lower right lateral
with wire, and the rest of my lower teeth are sporting smoke bands. My uppers are nice and white again - 7 weeks with the same "clear" bands
isn't the greatest idea. They were looking pretty gross! All in all it was a good first adjustment. Next time I get new wires!

Two months down, sixteen to go! I'm so
excited - today (9/19) is my 9th week with braces and I couldn't be
happier with the progress. So far I've only had 3 canker sores
that have really bothered me - a miracle! I credit Lysine for my
success. Lately things such as chewing have been bothering me -
not because my teeth hurt, but because my bite is changing. I find
that with braces, I don't move my food around in my mouth as much when I
chew. It sounds funny, but I do it because I hate getting a lot of
stuff caught between my braces. And that causes me to look like a
dork when I chew. Eating at restaurants isn't my favorite thing to
do these days. Check out the 9th week photo!

almost closed and my lowers have straightened out!
