Dr. José Amaya
(Ph.D., University of California-Los Angeles, 1995) has
written articles on U.S. Latino/a literature for The Oxford Companion to
Twentieth Century Literature in English, and teaches courses in U.S.
Latino literature through the English department.
Dr. Hector Avalos,
Director
(Ph.D., Harvard, 1991), the 1996 Professor of the Year,
has published numerous books and articles on ancient health care, science and
religion, and biblical studies. His
special interest is religion in U.S. Latino literature and film and teaches
in philosophy and Religious Studies program.
Dr. Jerry
García
(Ph.D., Washington State University) He has done
research on Japanese immigration into Mexico as well as on Mexican
communities in Washington State. He
teaches our courses in U.S. Latino history.
Dr. Ed Muñoz
(Ph.D., University of Nebraska-Lincoln) teaches our
Latino sociology courses, and has published articles on Latino demography,
Latinos/as and criminal justice, and latinoa/as and substance abuse. He is also affiliated with Iowa State’s Institute
for Social Behavioral Research where he is beginning research on Midwestern
Latino families.
