The Association of Laboratory Technicians
PURPOSE of the Association of Laboratory Technicians: In
December 1990, Dr. Norman F. Cheville proposed
the formation of a technicians' society to promote education and scientific
development. The ALT was organized by laboratory technicians to:
- Promote the interchange of ideas and methods
- Provide educational programs for professional growth and enrichment
- Enhance the status of the laboratory technicians by improving
knowledge, performance, and standards
- Provide an organized group to unite laboratory technicians
MEMBERSHIP PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES TO
EXPAND
CAREER AND INDIVIDUAL DEVELOPMENT BY:
- Increasing knowledge and technical skills
- Forming resource contacts
- Increasing individual visibility at both professional and community
levels
- Improving communication skills
- Gaining leadership experience as an ALT officer or committee member
Activities:
- Meetings - include a program of short scientific or safety presentations
- Annual Symposium
