APHIS or ARS employees: You do not need to include the registration fee, as APHIS and ARS will reimburse ALT directly after you attend the symposium. You do need to send dues.

ISU employees: In the past, department secretaries have issued payment for both dues and registration directly to ALT with registration forms, but ISU employees need to notify their supervisor and secretary as soon as possible to verify the procedure. It is best to check your institutional policies concerning reimbursement policies.

PIONEER employees: Check with your supervisor. I have received registrations that cover both dues and registration.

Symposium Registration closes Monday, January 24, 2000. Please donít wait until the last minute. Register today!

Not registering for Symposium?

You still need to send in your $5 (yes, still only $5) DUES for the year 2000.

The larger the membership, the easier it is to attract speakers and sponsors for ALT programs and symposium. Support your profession and ALT by becoming a member today.

Editorís Desk: This is my last issue of Technically Speaking. I enjoyed being editor, but feel it is time for some new blood to give the newsletter a fresh prospective. Getting involved can be very rewarding. I was part of ALTís inception and have watched it grow since then. I feel it will continue to evolve as long as members perpetuate the goals of ALT. The goals of 1) promoting the interchange of ideas and methods and 2) providing educational programs for professional growth and enrichment should fulfill the objectives of 3) enhancing the status of the laboratory technicians and 4) uniting technicians in their pursuit of knowledge. The symposium title, "Excellence Through Knowledge" says it all. Job performance, job satisfaction, and self esteem are enhanced with an increase in oneís knowledge. Stay true to ALTís objectives.
See you at symposium! Wendy Hambly
