COACH BUSSAN’S COMMENTS: Boone has an exceptional team and should be a 3A power throughout the season. We are in the mix as far as the conference boys race is concerned and that is good to see early in the season. The boys did a nice job of moving up in the second half of the race. We are still trying to find the correct opening pace which gives us the best opportunity to compete at the front of the meet and yet still have a strong finish. Alex Lamp had another outstanding effort in finishing 3rd behind Ryan McMahon of Algona and Boone’s #1 runner. We ran a very tight pack 2-7 but they will all have to move well forward if we hope to achieve our goals this season. On the J.V. side, Jacob Clabaugh had a fine race to finish 2nd and Lucas Poland had his best effort of the season. Overall, the boys J.V. displayed solid running and good depth. Our next meet will be the Go-Hawk Invitational at Waverly. This is an age grouped meet where all of the freshmen run together, sophomores run as a group and so on. It will be a good opportunity for the team to see how they stack up against kids their own age.

COACH BUSSAN’S COMMENTS: Morgan Moline and Brenna Paukert continue to lead the way. I thought this was a particularly good effort for Morgan. Megan Hughes closed the gap between herself and senior Alicia Long which was good to see. On the J.V. side, overall we had a very strong effort. In particular, Gina Moline and Nicole Heinrichs ran very well in finishing 1st and 5th. Fifth for our varsity in a highly competitive battle with Roland-Story and Boone and along with conference opponents St. Edmond and Eagle Grove represented a solid placing for us. Next up will be the age group meet at Waverly next Tuesday at 5 p.m. at the Wartburg College Course.
