COACH BUSSAN’S COMMENTS:
Boys:  We had outstanding performances out of Tony Fischels and Chris Wardell.  Tony has worked extremely hard and has made himself one of the elite runners in the state.  Chris gave a solid performance and stayed with Tony through nearly two miles before Tony’s superior conditioning allowed him to move forward. Nick Barnes gave us a good effort in nearly equaling his personal record in the race of the season.  Freshman Jesse Ogg did a nice job in finishing 14th in the J.V. While several conference schools were on top of us, I was pleased that we were in contact with all of them.  St. Edmond has improved greatly and along with the other schools, will now give us strong targets to shoot for as we work to improve throughout the season.
Girls:  Our girls got off to a great start.  Team depth is our strength this year and it showed in both the varsity and junior varsity races.  I was very pleased with the pack running we displayed in our first four positions.  I was also pleased with Libby McMurray’s winning effort in the J.V. which would have earned a scoring position in our varsity line-up.  We compared favorably with the conference schools but we will need to improve consistently throughout the season.
