We will stay in Arras, a town that was very near the front and bombarded throughout the war, and from which we take day trips to the following sites:
Ypres, Belgium and surroundings: Sanctuary Wood,
and the Cloth Hall with its WWI museum.
Brugge, Belgium
Arras (with its Boves) and Vimy Ridge (Grange Tunnel)
Albert (Musee de Abris) and the Somme (Thiepval,
Newfoundland Memorial)
Reims and its cathedral
Battle areas near Verdun
As we leave Arras, we will travel to Reims, from where the group will take a day trip to battle sites and museums near Verdun.
After Reims, we continue on to Paris where we will spend the remainder of the course.
