My name is Noah Van Dam. I am a freshman at Iowa State University in Mechanical Engineering. I have made this website for an assignment for my honors English course. Iowa State emphasizes WOVE communication in all of its English classes. For this assignment I was to make an e-portfolio of work from my first semester at college and then to write and post reflections on each of these assignments. One other component is to document one specific part of my first semester that I find significant or important to me. Below I have descriptions of each of the main sites and also information on what WOVE communication is.

WOVE stands for Written Oral Visual Electronic communication. The point behind the program is to incorporate more than just written essays into the English curriculum. This website is one such example of trying to incorporate electronic, and visual, and written, and oral components of communication into assignments that more closely mimic real life applications of communication skills.

This page is about me. It contains biographical and academic information about myself along with pages devoted to topics I like, clubs I am in, activities I participate in, and to games. This page is meant to be slightly silly (thought whether I actually achieve said silliness is a matter for you to decide). I've also got a link to my resume listed here for all you employers.
Because I am a Mechanical Engineering student I have devoted an entire page to all of my engineering work. As a first semester freshman I have done little in this field, but not none. Contained within are sample programs that I have written in Visual Basic for Applications. There are also samples of work done for my Engineering 160H class in the Statics and Engineering Economics fields. As a part of the Mini Baja team I have also done some work which I have included here.
This page is devoted to displaying all the work I have done this semester other than my engineering work that show elements of WOVE communication. Included in this site are assorted papers written for English and German along with links to pages describing oral presentations that I have given, along with all of the reflections mandated by this assignment.
