Biography
Amr A. Kandil holds a B.Sc. degree in construction engineering from the American University in Cairo (AUC). Shortly after receiving his bachelors degree he joined Bechtel International’s Cairo office to work as a project controls engineer on a $300 million hotel development project. During his employment at Bechtel he was also pursuing his Masters degree in construction engineering at AUC. During his master degree he started up, with a number of partners, an engineering consulting firm where he was the managing partner. After completing his masters he was awarded a W. E. O’Neil pre-doctoral fellowship at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. During his studies at the University of Illinois he worked as a teaching assistant for a number of courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels and as a research assistant on a number of externally funded projects. Dr. Kandil's main research interests are in the use of information technology applications for decision support in large-scale infrastructure projects and in sustainable infrastructure construction.
