Mass spectrometry laboratory supervisor at the Chemical Instrumentation
Facility- Chemistry Department, Iowa State University.
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Managing facility mass spectrometers and related equipment...
- Establish and document correct methods and procedures.
- Advise and consult with faculty and all ISU researchers ...

Current research:
* Extractions and trace analyses of active species in natural products such as herbal medecines.
* HPLC/MS/MS of glycoproteins.
* HPLC/ESIMS analysis of caratenoids and digested proteins and polypeptides.
* Development of capillary zone electrophoresis-electrospray mass spectrometry for protein analysis.
* On-line Micellar Electrokinetic Chromatography-Electrospray Mass Spectrometry analysis of herbicide mixtures.
* On-line Capillary Isoelectric Focusing (CIEF) Electrospray Mass Spectrometry (ESMS) for the separation of proteins according to their isoelectric point (pI) differences.
-(1991-1993 University of New Orleans) Post-Doctorate Research Associate:
* Application of Liquid Chromatography-Electrospray Mass Spectrometry
to the structural analysis of biological toxins (in Cotton and Seafood).
* Negative ion mode electrospray investigations: implications to the
mechanism of ionization.
* Adaptation of a single quadrupole HP5985 mass spectrometer to the
FAB ionization. This includes the design of the ion source and installation
of a Cesium Gun.
-(1987-1990 Paris France) Ph.D.:
*Study of gas phase decompositions of bifunctional molecules such as: Keto-esters, Dioxolane-esters, and Keto-alcohols. Mass-analyzed Ion Kinetic Energy and Collisionally-Activated Dissociations mass spectra were recorded on VG ZAB-HSQ and Nermag R30-10 triple quadrupole. All the labeled products were synthesized along with corresponding compounds using D, 18O and 13C isotopes.
-(1986-1987 Paris France) Master's:
*Extraction and analysis of sedimentary organic matter. After extraction
of marine sediment, Humic and Fulvic acids were analyzed by HPLC methodology.
