I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Applied Linguistics and Technology (ALT) program at Iowa State University, where I teach Spanish for the World Languages and Cultures (WLC) department. My dissertation is a multiple ethnographic case study of two upper-intermediate Spanish writing courses. It views these courses and the stakeholders therein to understand how academic Spanish discourse is developed by means of technology-based tasks. To understand the tasks, language, and social practices, I am using several analytical frameworks rooted in systemic functional linguistics.
