What is the Templeton 5K Walk/Run?

Looking for a fun, healthy way to begin the summer of 2008? How about a 5K? This 5K is the first of its kind in Templeton, so come and be a part of the fun. The great thing about the Templeton 5K is it's not just for runners - walking is just fine. The goal is to get people of all ages together to have a fun and exciting day while raising money for a great cause!

What is a 5K anyway?

The "5000 meter run" is a popular running distance also known as a "5K" or a "5km", colloquially "five-K" (equal to 3.107 miles). This distance is typical for running races; on road, on the track or cross-country. 5K's are great for fundraiser events because they're long enough to challenge people but short enough for people of all ages to participate. Do I have to run?

Nope! The title of this event is "The First Annual Templeton 5K Walk/Run." On the day of the event, people will be divided up based on their personal choice to run or walk. Runners will run in one group, while walkers will walk in another. This will maximize safety and ensure that everyone is going at a similiar pace to those around them.
