Steve
Forbes

Forbes for President

It is time to select Steve Forbes as the Republican nominee for the 2000 presidential campaign! Steve is the only candidate with a TRULY CONSERVATIVE vision that also has the resources necessary to defeat Bush and, later, the democratic nominee. Steve is also the only candidate who has actually made proposals for reducing the burden of government and returning freedom to the citizens of this nation. The United States needs a man with a conservative vision nad some concrete ideas to lead us into the next century. That man is Steve Forbes. Please visit forbes2000.com for additional information about Steve Forbes.

Deer Logo

I am currently in the co-op program with John Deere at the Des Moines Works. The co-op program is an agreement between the student, the university, and the company to allow the student to alternate periods of work experience with periods of school until graduation. This allows the student to gain valuable experience in the work place as part of his education. This experience makes the student more employable after graduation. I spent a great deal of my time on co-op between January and August 1998, working on projects related to the launch of the new 627 and 637 tandem disks shown below. I have returned to school for the Fall 1998 and Spring 1999 semesters. I worked on the 4700 Sprayer during the summer of 1999. I designed fender supports and supported field test operations for several prototype machines. I traveled all over the Western US and Canada visiting users and collecting comments about the machines and their operation. I will return there to work on test engineering in January, 2000.

Faith

I have been a little later than most in life in finding my faith, but I suppose better late than never. It provides some spiritual guidance and a reason to maintain hope when things aren't exactly very clear. I follow the ministry of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The activities of the church also remind me to help serve other people in need and provide various projects and activities to do so. I have also been recently introduced to the Lutheran Student Movement. The content of their web page is not very dynamic, but you can check it out anyway.

Large GM Logo

General Motors builds the best line of cars and trucks in the world. GM has a long history of innovation, such as the first to offer an automatic transmission and the first to adopt clear-coat paint on the majority of its vehicles. Other impressive developments include a number of legendary V8 powerplants, America's classics sports car, the Corvette, and the new Chevrolet and GMC pickups.

Auto Service and Repair

Even GM vehicles need to be serviced from time to time. Service and repair of autos is also a big interest of mine and a pastime into which I invest a significant portion of my free time. The recent explosion of internet users has made automotive repair information available on the internet. Follow this link for more detail on the service information I have found. I am always adding to this page, so if you have more data or suggestions, please let me know.

Agriculture

Another interest of mine is agriculture and farming. I currently manage 30 acres that I have custom farmed while I am going to school. It provides some more education in the area of agriculture and helps me keep pace with the ever more rapid and amazing developments that are streamlining agricultural production. Larger, more efficient machinery, genetically improved seed, and more effective and safe chemicals are being developed at an ever increasing rate. All of these factors create a very exciting and dynamic industry. More farm facts and information is here. As with the other pages, I am always looking for more good stuff to add. Please send me email if you have any.

Quilter's Quarters

Quilter's Quarters I must admit that I am hardly knowledgeable in the areas of fabric and quilting. However, my mom, Melinda Engelbrecht, has a good handle on all that stuff and can help you if needed. She has her own custom machine quilting and fabric store, named Quilter's Quarters. If you are into that stuff, please visit her site and pay her a visit sometime. You won't regret it.

The Dukes of Hazzard

I think that the Dukes of Hazzard is the best show that ever made television. I mean, what a life! You get to spend your entire day riding around in your hot rod that can jump over anything, saving Hazzard County. Sounds good to me. It's just a good show to watch that leaves out all the sex, violence, and stupid jokes on much of today's television. The General Lee shown below was one of the cars used to film the television show. Click on the General to follow a link to a story from the guy who bought the car from Warner Brothers after the show ended. I thought it was interesting. As before. if you have any other good stuff on this topic, let me know.
